My Approach to Health, Life, Love

Hi Beautiful,

Before we dive in, I thought that it may help for you to know some things about me and my overall approach…

I will never ever tell you what or how you “should” eat, live, do, etc.

I WILL share with you what I eat, along with lifestyle habits I add into my daily life, and the why behind it, along with glimpses into how that shifts with the seasons (both literal, and those of our individual lives).

I’ll also share with you information I’ve learned over the years digging into this lifestyle (think: history of food, dietary theories, folk medicine, hunter-gatherer theory, etc.), stories and case studies that have been shared along the way, with research to back it up (if at times research is not referenced / linked and you’re interested to learn more, feel free to ask).

I’ll be the first person to tell you that what works for me may not work for you. However, there are many broad commonalities that have been found helpful for the majority of our species… with variation in between based on personal lifestyle habits, heritage, environmental factors, etc.

I will share how I have learned how to listen to my body. Again, that may be a bit different for you… but I 100% believe with all of my being that you can tap into that with relative ease if you so desire and choose.

Nothing is ever fully set in stone. I’ll share as best I can from my current place of knowing, understanding always that new information (to me and / or to all) may change that a day, month, or several years down the line.

This last point is one of the big reasons why I practice and work to share how to tune into our own intuition (clean up your gut, literally, and you will be able to listen to it!). Because we always know best when we strip away all the clutter that is quite literally clogging us up (this goes for food / junk food, mental clarity / social media, judgements, and too busy western lifestyles, etc.). While new research is always coming out and there are arguments on both sides of almost every issue… all that really matters at the end of the day is how YOU FEEL.

I honestly don’t care if some say “that’s just placebo”. Because if it’s working, it’s WORKING. So, why complain just because it doesn’t make sense within the limited scientific model? I know those last couple sentences may be triggering you. But please know that I am a big lover of research and science. It truly helps my brain tremendously and I love having it to dig deeper into the whys and hows of it all. We are constantly learning more and more, busting out of old models and ways of measuring / thinking. This is a GOOD thing! As long as we are always open to knowing that what we think is exactly how it is now could (and probably will) be busted wide open sometime in the future. This is a very good thing because (for example) I think we can all agree that we would not want to be living with some of the same medical practices that were being used in the western world even less than 200 years ago. I mean, unless you’re into bloodletting, trepanning (drilling into the skull to relieve migraines, epilepsy, mental disorders, etc.), lobotamies, and the like… You do you…

I think it is AWESOME that we have science that is explaining how and why things work that traditional cultures around the world have known for thousands of years. I love being able to better understand from this lens. However, I also fall into a percentage of the population that equally does not NEED that research to back up that knowing.

That all being said… I also get that there is SO MUCH information out there. Much of it in conflict, as I mentioned above. My hope and my intention is to share with you what I’ve learned in a way that is easy to understand and assimilate (even just one new thing to up-level your health + wellbeing) and helps you to see through the deep sea of information that’s out there (but please don’t always take my word for it and do your own research).

I also am a firm believer in something way greater than this physical form, whatever you personally want to call it. I work to align, surrender, hand it all over, let go, and allow this force to rearrange for the highest good, better than my wildest dreams. This is a critical part of my daily life, in moments of uncertainty, frustration, confusion, etc… whether I’m on or off the mat (meditating). I have found in my brief time here in this current embodiment that the more I let go, the better it all is (and the easier I breathe / sleep / enjoy it all!). That of course is a fine line of still taking inspired action daily in the direction I FEEL most drawn to. Following the breadcrumbs of love and joy. Trusting as I surrender again and again.

Oh, and above all, I believe wholeheartedly in LOVE as the numero uno head-honcho, best medicine there is. You can never overdose. It’s FREE. And it is always the answer. Always. That, and joy. When we live from love and joy, we live in our light, and all the funk starts falling away… and we inspire the light in others to shine a little bit brighter too. Go ripple that drippy yummy super infectious goodness out!

Now let’s get to making ground-breaking, life-shaking changes for ourselves, our loved ones, and the world at large by taking small steps and making new choices every day. After all, the only way we will see change is if we MAKE changes! Badabing, badaboom.

You’ve got this babe, go get it.

By the way, remember to be so very gentle and forgive yourself when you aren’t “on it” or slip or need to retreat and heart throbbing out of your chest / don’t know how you’ll ever make it cry and curl up in a ball for a while - that’s all a part of it… as long as we at some point in the not too distant future stand back up (and we always do, by the way), we’ll be fine. Because we already are. Perfect.

Te amo (I love you),

J
